Virginia: online casino, sweepstakes and sports betting law

Online sports betting is legal in Virginia, but online casinos are not. State law (Va. Code 58.1-4101) lets casino gaming happen only at the qualified sites it lists, and gambling illegally anywhere else is a Class 3 misdemeanor. Sportsbooks get their permits from the Virginia Lottery Board and Department under 58.1-4030 and the sections after it, and 10 licensed operators appear on the Virginia Lottery's site.
