Mississippi: online casino, sweepstakes and sports betting law
In Mississippi, legal betting happens at licensed casinos. Gaming Commission rules keep sports betting, mobile wagers included, on casino property. A 2026 bill that would have taken mobile betting statewide died in a Senate committee. Online casino play is illegal under Section 97-33-1, which exempts only licensed casino gaming on vessels and shore structures. Internet sweepstakes cafes count as illegal gambling under Section 97-33-8. A 2026 attempt to add online sweepstakes casinos failed, so we found no ban on them.

Real-money online casino
Not legal
Not legal. Under Section 97-33-1, playing games or betting for money or anything of value is a crime. The only gaming it exempts is licensed gaming on cruise vessels, on Gulf Coast shore structures and on vessels on the Mississippi River. We took the text from SB 2104 (2026) in its introduced form, which restates the current section. That bill later died in a House committee.

Sweepstakes casinos
No ban found
No ban found as of 19 Oct 2026. Internet sweepstakes cafes already count as illegal gambling under Section 97-33-8. SB 2104 (2026) would have extended that rule to online sweepstakes casinos. It passed the Senate but died in the House Gaming Committee.

Online sports betting
Restricted
Restricted to casinos. Under Mississippi Gaming Commission rules, licensed casinos run sports pools, and mobile bets are allowed only inside an approved casino-hotel property. HB 1581 (2026), which would have allowed mobile betting across the state, passed the House and died in a Senate committee.
