Responsible gambling

Where to get help with gambling in the US, and the basics of playing safely.

Updated 19 Oct 2026

Real-money online casino games are legal only in some US states, and only for players 21 and over. Our state law tracker shows where.

Free demos

Free demo versions of slots use play money. They don’t pay out, and results in a demo don’t predict results for real money.

Playing safely

Set a budget and a time limit before you start, and stop when you reach either one. Don’t chase losses or play to win back money you need. Take breaks. Licensed US casinos let you set deposit, loss and time limits in your account, and you can exclude yourself from one casino or, in many states, from all of them through the state regulator.
