Kansas: online casino, sweepstakes and sports betting law
Sports betting in Kansas is legal online. SB 84, which Governor Laura Kelly signed in May 2022, opened the market, and betting through the Kansas Lottery's casinos started on 1 September 2022, both on apps and at the sportsbooks. Online casino games are another matter. The only casinos are lottery gaming facilities, limited to one per gaming zone by K.S.A. 74-8734. Any other bet counts as a class B nonperson misdemeanor under K.S.A. 21-6404. We found no ban on sweepstakes casinos.

Real-money online casino
Not legal
Not legal. K.S.A. 21-6404 defines making a bet as gambling and classes it as a class B nonperson misdemeanor. The Kansas Lottery may run one casino per gaming zone, known as a lottery gaming facility (K.S.A. 74-8734), and we found nothing that extends casino play online.

Sweepstakes casinos
No ban found
No ban found. We checked K.S.A. 21-6403 and 21-6404 on 19 Oct 2026. A lottery under 21-6403 requires players to pay something to have a shot at winning a prize, and simply signing up without buying anything doesn't count as paying.
